Oven glove problems

Problems with your oven gloves?  The folowing information may help, but if not then don't hesitate to get in touch with us - go to our contact page.

Our Protect Oven Gloves will usually give many years of safe service.  The following describes situation where the thermal insulation and heat protection may fail to work.

Grease deposits

The most common cause of reduction in heat protection in our oven gloves is where grease and fat deposits have built up on the glove surface.  These provide a fast-track for heat to penetrate through the glove and on to the skin.  If you start to notice hot-spots in the gloves, this is the most likely cause.  The gloves can be restored to full working order very easily - just wash them.

Damp gloves

Because of the multiple layers of protective fabric in our gloves, they may take longer to dry than you expect.  If used while damp the thermal insulation is considerably reduced because the water acts as a fast-track for heat to pass through the glove.  The solution is simple: just make sure the gloves are completely dry before use.

Physical damage or burn damage

The gloves will not provide protection if they are holed or burnt.  For example, when using our gloves with a barbecue, if you accidentally pick up a hot coal the glove will not burst into flames and you will not be burnt, but the fabric will be irreparably damaged.
